Single channel generative video with custom software

This video was constructed as a memorial for a fellow artist and friend. Remixing 1950s lipstick television advertisements, the work illustrates the marking and erasure of symbols upon a palm; the drawing and erasure, doubling and masking enact the transformation of performativity of perceived modes of femininity and gender. The work was shown as a single-channel video installation at Gallery 400, Chicago IL, as part of the exhibition The Dragon is the Frame: Inspired by the life and work of Mark Aguhar (2012).
